Artificial Intelligence in Academic Publishing, Part 1 [ONLINE]

Artificial Intelligence in Academic Publishing, Part 1 [ONLINE] Online

AI Basics and Key Considerations for Authors.

Please join us for the first part of a two-part series on AI’s evolving role in academic publishing (come to one or both!).

In this session, we will introduce the basics of machine learning and AI, and then discuss some of the key issues that authors must consider when using AI tools (or not) in their academic writing.

By the end of this session, learners will:

  • Have a basic understanding of how machine learning and large language models are built and function
  • Be able to evaluate the risks and benefits of using AI tools in academic writing
  • Be aware of key issues for academic authors considering the use of AI tools, such as criteria for authorship, editorial restrictions, and research ethics
  • Know where to look for guidelines in acknowledging or citing AI-generated content in their work

You can find part 2 of this series on Tue, June 4, 11am-12pm at:
