[ONLINE] Leveraging Generative AI in Second Language Writing Online
Description: Generative AI (GenAI) technologies are rapidly transforming the landscape of language teaching and learning, particularly in second language (L2) writing instruction. This presentation explores how GenAI tools can be meaningfully and responsibly integrated into L2 writing pedagogy. The presentation begins with a brief overview of GenAI technologies and GenAI-mediated writing tasks reported in the current literature. The presenter then highlights a series of empirical studies conducted in her research team, including 1) GenAI-supported teacher feedback, 2) collaborative processing of GenAI-generated feedback, 3) student-GenAI interaction in research writing, and 4) the use of GenAI for L2 writing assessment and test preparation. The presentation concludes by outlining future research directions and discussing pedagogical implications. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the transformative potential of GenAI in L2 writing instruction and assessment.
