SUMMARY:[ONLINE] AI in Scholarly Publishing
DESCRIPTION:Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping scholarly 
 publishing\, offering new opportunities while raising important ethical\, 
 legal\, and practical questions.  \n\nIn this one hour session\, we will 
 explore:\n\n\n	Strengths and limitations of AI tools for research and 
 scholarly writing.\n	Issues of AI authorship\, copyright\, attribution\, 
 and responsible citation.\n	Applying ethical prompting practices when using 
 AI in academic contexts.\n	The benefits and risks of incorporating AI into 
 editorial and peer review workflows.\n	Existing resources and frameworks to 
 develop an AI policy or author guidance statement for a journal or 
 scholarly publication.\n\n\nBy the end of the session\, participants will 
 have a practical understanding of current best practices for using AI 
 responsibly in scholarly publishing and will be equipped with strategies to 
 develop transparent\, ethical\, and effective AI practices within their own 
 research or publishing environments.\n\nPresenter Bio: Brianna Calomino is 
 a Digital Projects Librarian who supports digital scholarship\, scholarly 
 communications\, and open access publishing initiatives at the University 
 of Calgary. In her role she manages the institutional repository\, PRISM\, 
 and Open Journal Systems\, as well as consults with researchers on their 
 open publishing needs. She also helps support the university’s 
 makerspace\, LabNEXT. Brianna has a passion for information accessibility 
 and innovative teaching\, striving to create inclusive learning 
 environments.
