3D Printing: A Beginner's Guide from Idea to Object In-Person
In this interactive makerspace workshop, participants will learn the full 3D printing workflow: from finding a 3D model, preparing it for printing, to operating the 3D printing hardware. The session emphasizes practical skills and best practices to help you start printing with confidence.
This session will demonstrate these techniques using open source Prusa Slicer software as well as the library's Prusa MK3 3D printers but the techniques can be easily be adapted for other software and printers.
Bringing a laptop is not required. However, if you would like to follow along during the slicing demonstration, you may bring your own device (please install Prusa Slicer before the session). Participants are also welcome to use the Lab NEXT PCs after the workshop to prepare and send their files to the printer.
If you already have a 3D model you are interested in printing please bring it along! There will be opportunity at the end of the session to try slicing your file and preparing it for printing. In this 90 minute session there will not be sufficient time to print your model.
Note, all seats for this session have filled. We have another session available at https://workrooms.ucalgary.ca/event/4004879.
