[Online] So You Want to Start a Journal: A Guide to UCalgary's Journal Hosting Service Online

In this workshop, Libraries and Cultural Resources (LCR) offers an overview of the University of Calgary Journal Hosting service for open access peer-review journal publishing. This service is based on the Open Journal System (OJS) platform, developed by the Public Knowledge Projects (PKP). The workshop will guide attendees through the significant steps of starting a journal using the OJS platform, considerations, and supports for new and existing journals provided by LCR’s Journal Hosting Support Team. No previous knowledge is required.

By the end of this session, attendee will be able to…

  1. Understand the process for starting a new journal with Libraries and Cultural Resources’ Journal Hosting service
  2. Explain how to join an existing journal as a reader, author, reviewer, or member of an editorial team
  3. Gain insight into the benefits and supports of the OJS service.
