Systematic Reviews Workshop #3: The next steps: Translating, tracking, reporting and study selection.

Systematic Reviews Workshop #3: The next steps: Translating, tracking, reporting and study selection. In-Person

This workshop will cover the remaining steps of the data collection phase of your systematic review/knowledge synthesis review project and introduce you to the study selection process. This is a hands-on session where attendees will work on activities throughout, in order to engage with the content and learn the related skills.

Topics to be covered: Translating searches from one database to another, supplementary search techniques, reporting guidelines (PRISMA), exporting records from databases, deduplicating using Covidence, and the study selection process.

This is the third of a three-part series of workshops on systematic reviews/knowledge synthesis reviews. You are not required to take all three workshops in the series; you may sign up for only those that interest you. The workshops will be offered again in Winter 2020.

Please note: This workshop is part of a research study. The objective of the study is to develop, modify, and improve a series of active-learning workshops designed to teach the conceptual underpinnings of knowledge synthesis methodologies (such as Systematic Reviews, Scoping Reviews, etc.). Results of the study may be disseminated through conference presentations or scholarly publications.

As part of this study, we will need to gather participant feedback during the workshop. Note: you will not be required to do anything more than an attendee who attends a future offering of this workshop, after the study is complete.

Please note that this workshop includes an observational study as part of it. The instructors of this workshop will make group-level observations of what is working and what is not working. For example, observing and writing down notes about which activities are confusing or difficult, which are successful, etc. The observations will not focus on specific students, nor will the observations include any identifying information about an individual. If you are uncomfortable about being included in the group-level observations, you may either register for the workshop in Winter 2020 (where no observations will be made) or email the instructor to have a one-to-one consultation to learn the content being offered.

You will receive an email containing further information about the study in the week prior to the workshop. If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please contact the principal investigator of the study, Dr. Zahra Premji (via email at zahra.premji@ucalgary.ca)

This study (REB 19-1329) has been approved by the Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board (CFREB) at the University of Calgary.
