Build a Soft Circuit Friend In-Person
Use fabric, batting, LEDs and wire to make yourself a friend who lights up when you squeeze. This workshop will cover basic sewing machine use, making a custom switch, and implementing a simple circuit to embed in a stuffed toy you can customize however you like.
During this workshop, you will:
- build a basic circuit (LED+Soft Switch+Battery) and discuss electricity flows within it to solve implementation problems
- gain basic experience with the sewing machine by using it to build a small project
- create an object using disparate material types (fabric and electronics) and begin to imagine other ways to combine different media
This workshop is designed for beginners, or anyone who wants to expand their knowledge of electronics or sewing!
Basic materials (felt, thread, batting, electronics) will be provided. If you’d like to bring special fabric or embellishments for your softie, please do.
