Keeping Current with your Research: Using Alerting Services In-Person

Would you like to run a regular database search to help with your research? Would you like to track new issues of your favourite electronic journals?

Many of the Library databases provide these services. Current awareness services are particularly useful for on-going research projects and general knowledge.

This session will provide an overview on available resources at the University of Calgary, effective set-up and management tools, and using these resources to update your research prior to defending and updating your thesis. Examples will be used to cover current awareness tools for journal tables of contents, keyword searches, citation analysis, news feeds, and website/blog updates by e-mail or RSS feed. Tips on the effectiveness of judicious set-up and potential pitfalls will also be addressed.
