Historic Maps in the Digital Realm In-Person

New ways to see old maps is an exciting development for anyone interested in history. Explore the development of western Canada, as an area rich in various natural resources. Southern Alberta grew rapidly out of an extensive prairie grassland to become an important component of Canada’s economic engine, with Calgary playing a key role. Historic maps of Calgary, the Canadian West and beyond is available to anyone through the Map Library’s website, which will be highlighted in this talk. Examples of scanned maps as well as print copies will be presented, and also a tour of wall-sized images in the Visualization Studio.
