[ONLINE] Artificial Intelligence and Academic Integrity: AI-Generated Text Detection and Plagiarism Online
Join Sarah Eaton, Beatriz Moya, and Leeanne Morrow for an evidence-informed session on the topic of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI), large language models (LLMs), and academic integrity including a discussion on the challenges of using AI detection tools.
In this session we will cover the basics of how LLMs work and ethical complexities of using AI-generated text in academic and research work.
By the end of this session, engaged participants will:
- Understand how LLMs work.
- Understand how text-matching software (sometimes erroneously called plagiarism detection software) and tools to detect AI-generated text work.
- Be able to discuss limitations of tools to detect AI-generated work.
- Be aware of key issues to support ethical learning with GenAI.
