Drop in and have a walkthrough of the Library's latest innovative research and teaching space, the One Button/Virtual Reality Studio. The One Button Studio is a room which has been streamlined for creating video content. It allows users with no technical background to save videos to a USB memory stick with the push of a single button and is equipped with retro-reflective green screen technology. The Virtual Reality Studio is customized for using virtual reality technology. The room contains a high-performance PC and the HTC Vive. The Vive is designed to be used at “room scale”, allowing the user to navigate naturally and use handheld controllers to manipulate objects, communicate, and experience immersive audio-visual environments. The technology at the Taylor Family Digital Library allows users to work with already-existing VR apps, or to program their own applications using open source tools to enhance research and teaching.
This session will show you how to reserve this facility and operate the equipment. It is open to University of Calgary faculty, students, and staff. No registration required.
